Dr. John Hunthausen is a Human Resources leader with 25 years of experience and a track record of developing trusted partnerships with business executives to enhance their leadership effectiveness to enable organizations achieve business goals with more informed decisions, lower risk, and greater efficiency. He is a dynamic partner whose methods and strategies drive multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, and sustainable outcomes. Over his career, Dr. Hunthausen has led Human Resource teams and projects in Fortune 100 companies and startups within the Technology, Consumer Products, and Transportation sectors, driving solutions that utilize his expertise in areas such as HR Strategy, HR Business Partner Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent and Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, new country expansion, Leadership Assessment and Development, and executive coaching.
Dr. Hunthausen brings this depth of experience to collaborate as a leadership consultant in designing and implementing solutions that build leadership capability throughout an organization. From his roles as a builder and change agent in fast-paced environments, he assesses, develops, and deploys top leadership talent where it’s needed to accelerate goal achievement and and build organizational capability. He also brings a pragmatic and time-sensitive focus that translates to clear problem definition and innovative solutions. Most recently, Dr. Hunthausen worked at Gopuff Inc. as the VP of People and Culture. Previously, he worked at Amazon Web Services for 10 years, much of the time as the AWS HR Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), leading his team to expand the company’s footprint from 12 EMEA countries to 26. He also worked as a HR Director at Microsoft for six years leading HR Business Partner teams supporting businesses in what is now the Enterprise and Cloud Division. Prior to this, Dr. Hunthausen held positions of Director of Talent Acquisition for Alaska Airlines, Organizational Effectiveness Manager for SC Johnson and Son, and Organizational Effectiveness Consultant at American Airlines. A native of the Northwest, John received his MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, and his Ph.D. in Industrial-organizational psychology at Portland State University.
