SESSION SUMMARY:
Have you ever received the feedback: “Be more strategic?” Many leaders have. But what does that actually mean in real life — and how do you do it? This 2-hour LIVE manager masterclass provides practical tools and techniques to think more strategically.
During this interactive session, led by Jamie Lewis Smith, PhD, you will learn how to build practical strategic thinking skills that drive better decisions, increase leadership credibility, and prepare them for next-level roles. Strategic thinking isn’t just for executives — it’s a core leadership muscle that helps you anticipate problems, connect your work to the big picture, and guide your team toward long-term success.
We’ll demystify what it means to “be strategic” and practice real tools you can use right away — like the 5 Whys, Impact/Effort Matrix, PESTLE, SWOT, and mind mapping. You’ll also explore how strategic thinking helps you manage complexity, prioritize what matters, and move from reactive to intentional leadership. You will leave with concrete techniques you can begin to apply right away to be more strategic.
Participants will:
- Learn what strategic thinking really means (and why it matters for your career)
- Apply simple tools to assess risk, prioritize actions, and spot opportunities
- Practice thinking two moves ahead to avoid common leadership traps
- Connect daily decisions to organizational goals and long-term impact
- Walk away with a set of frameworks to use in your everyday work
